Students did a great job at our Veteran's day assembly on Tuesday. We had a good turnout from the community and the kids looked and sounded wonderful! More performances to come as we head into this performing season!

We had a wonderful fall concert! Great attendance and beautiful music! The students did a great job! OUr first performance was today! We toured Christian Health Care North and South. It is a great experience for the kids! I was so impressed with their character and behavior. We were able to perform several of our songs for the residents. The weather did not cooperate though for our outing in the park We just huddled together in the pavilion and kept warm! See pics below!
Wow! We had a great rehearsal on Saturday. The rehearsal was so productive and I was impressed with their focus. Most of our music is memorized and we will be well prepared for our performances that are coming up! Below are some pictures of our rehearsal. Especially from our games that we played! I really wanted the singers to get to know each other and bond. We played name games and silly things like "Syllable Symphony", "Find someone who.." and "Undercover leader."
I am impressed with our singers! We already have two pieces prepared without music and we are well on our way to three. There is some tough music in the folders and I am proud of the progress they are making. Thursday we will be hard at work again. Pick up Choir pick-up is behind the gym at 4:30. Please remember to enter at 4th grade pickup. There should be no issue with forming a double line that can easily go behind the building. Do not be surprised if you receive a map this week marking where to enter and exit. This could be a great tool to hand to maybe grandma or aunt/uncle if they are picking up instead of the normal parent or guardian. Fees I am only missing a few fees and those reminders will be going home soon. Please get it to me when possible or contact me if there is an issue. Thanks to all who have been so timely! Attire I hope you are not having any problems getting your choir attire. Khaki pants and black dress shoes. Please check with me if you are in doubt or have any questions. I just want to make sure you have plenty of time! Practicing How is practicing coming along? I would love to hear that your child practices every night but that may not be realistic! Just a few times a week would be great and help us learn our notes more quickly. I sent home a paper copy of lyric sheets on Thursday but everything is also in dropbox! PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU NEED A CD because you are NOT able to access the at home via a mobile device or computer. For this next week, I would like for you to be listening to Free Like Me, Carrion Crow, Zions Walls (especially Part 2!!), and Al Shlosha. We really need to get comfortable with Hebrew!! I will see the singers on Thursday!! I can't wait for you to hear them in November! Another good rehearsal! We are really making some great sounds and some of our pieces are starting to come together. Thursday we will be back at it again!
When your child sits down to practice, please encourage them to follow along with the lyric sheets. This emphasizes active listening rather than passive listening for better memory! I'd really like them to practice In Service of Our Country, Free Like Me, Alleluia, and Come Out To Play. We are also working on some tricky language pieces so it may be good to start working on Al Shlosha and Carrion Crow Wow! Boswell Singers are off to a great start! We had an excellent rehearsal! They were responsible and respectful. I was glad to see them following our procedures we discussed at our first rehearsal!
Just a few reminders. Please fill out the information sheet (it is a google form link sent in an email) so I can have accurate information. Also all fees ($25) are due by September 25 so we can get our t-shirts ordered! Rehearsal tracks should be posted soon and lyric sheets as well. Stay tuned!. I will be posting these links in the Boswell Singers tab. The gym was all set up for our first rehearsal. Folders ready to go! We had a great rehearsal and a good turnout for our parent meeting. Glad to have such supportive families. It is going to be a great year! We have our first rehearsal today and I am excited to meet the new singers and see my returning students!
We will walk through choir behavior and attendance expectations as well as rehearsal procedures. I have all of this laid out in my handbook. In addition to choir "business" items, we will also get to SING! Warm-ups, stretches, and blending exercises and some GREAT music, of course! This fall, we will be singing the following pieces: In Service of Our Country Free Like Me Al Shlosha D'varim Zion's Walls Old Carrion Crow Fairest Lady Come Out To Play Alleluia When I Close My Eyes |
