5th Grade
What a busy time! Both grade levels began working on their Christmas programs the week of Halloween! Crazy! We didn't let that stop of us from doing some fall-themed activities such as studying Danse Macabre by Saint-Saens. Or like this game pictured below, called Tic Tac Turkey. I've also integrated a little bit of improvisation/composition with a soundscape activity to the sounds of Thunderstorms.
Now that we are midway into November, we are working real hard on our program. Each class has a recorder piece they will perform for parents in addition to some fun, familiar songs.
5th grade Christmas programs will be on December 17 during their specials' times in the gym
I will be sending home speaking parts, solos, and a letter home with more specific information.

4th Grade
4th graders got a chance to play a rhythm game called "Pass the Pumpkin" in addition to beginning their Christmas programs. I also threw in "Cut the Cake" to break up the routine which was a fun game for students to play after working on Solfege. Note reading has been a big push for 4th grade as we have been studying recorder and using it with Boomwhackers as well.
4th graders will present their r programs on December 17 during their specials times in the gym. We hope to see you there! I will be assigning speaking parts and solos and sending home a letter with more specific information.
